S. Canal Blvd Improvement Project Open House

Attendees will be able to view the S. Canal Blvd. street improvement plans, proposed construction and closure timelines, and meet with project officials between the hours of 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
A project website and telephone hotline will be launched at the open house; resources developed for area residents to have convenient access to current project information as well as report any questions or concerns they may have during the project.
S. Canal Blvd. will be upgraded to arterial standards from SW Obsidian Ave. to the roundabout at Yew Ave. This includes new pavement, curbs, left turn lanes at intersections, bike lanes, sidewalks, storm-water collection, 18-inch diameter water transmission main and a shared bicycle/pedestrian pathway along the irrigation canal from Salmon to Highland. Landscaping features include street trees from Kalama to Highland and landscape beds at Quartz and Salmon.
Streets will be closed in phased sections to through traffic, but local traffic will be allowed. Detours will be set up when roads are closed.
The first section of work will be between Yew Ave. roundabout to Timber with a detour to SW 27th Street. Construction is slated to begin Monday, March 26, 2018 and completed by April 2019.
