LOCAL INCENTIVES

Enterprise Zone:
Much of the City of Redmond is located within a state sponsored Enterprise Zone. Some private companies seeking to start or enlarge operations may qualify for 100% abatement from the property taxes assessed on new capital investments for three years. Local jurisdictions may also extend the property tax exemption up to five consecutive years for especially high paying jobs, and if additional local requirements are met by the business. Downtown Urban Renewal Area- Property Assistance Program:
Buildings and businesses located in the Downtown Urban Renewal District are eligible to apply for grants and loans to improve the exterior appearance of their buildings. The primary programs available to businesses and properties are 1) the Façade Improvement Grant program which provides grants of up to $4,000 in reimbursement for approved facade improvements (most typically painting and awnings) with a 10% owner match requirement, 2) a Small Projects Grant program offering up to $5,000 for approved exterior improvements with a one-for- one match requirement, and 3) a Loan program which may be used to pay up to 20% of the cost of approved major improvement projects up to a maximum amount of $50,000. Redmond's business license program helps the city track business vitality in the City and ensure fire, police, and other city services are aware of and able to effectively serve local businesses. SCORE:
SCORE provides free and confidential mentoring to small businesses. Among other services, local mentors provide assistance in developing business plans, marketing strategies, and bookkeeping procedures. Local SCORE mentors can also tap into to the national network of SCORE volunteers for guidance on specialized or unique issues.

REDI :
Redmond Economic Development, Inc. (REDI) serves a broad range of stakeholders and clients in Redmond, Oregon. REDI provides business recruitment, expansion and retention activities. REDI’s primary customers are existing and future businesses in the community with a primary emphasis on traded sector development. While REDI works with the commercial/retail industry, its primary approach is to provide business development services to manufacturing, distribution, assembly, and headquarters operations. The program is project and/or client-based to provide substantive solutions, one company at a time, relating to workforce issues, business finance, marketing, access to incentive programs, real estate development and other factors impacting businesses. REDI also serves the City of Redmond, and Deschutes County and its citizens through job creation and taxable investment to sustain the livability of the area.
