ABOUT THE COMMITTEE

The Downtown Urban Renewal Advisory Committee was created by a resolution of the Urban Renewal Agency on July 25, 2006, with a vision of creating an economically vibrant district in the Redmond downtown core where visitors and families can live, work, shop and play during the day and into the evening. In this work, the Committee recognizes that the heritage of Redmond, as the place in Central Oregon where “the work gets done,” is an important part of its future. The Committee’s purpose is to advise the Urban Renewal Agency Board (currently the City Council) regarding issues concerning the implementation of the Urban Renewal Plan and Downtown Action Plan. In order to fulfill its purpose and accomplish its vision, the Committee is responsible for the following activities:

  1. Review the Urban Renewal District Plan and provide policy and implementation recommendations to the City staff and the Urban Renewal Board.
  2. Review the Downtown Action Plan and provide policy and implementation recommendations to the City staff and the Urban Renewal Board.
  3. Recommend projects that are consistent with the Urban Renewal District Plan and Downtown Action Plan, and prepare a prioritized list of potential urban renewal projects for the Urban Renewal Board.
  4. Study and identify District needs and make recommendations to the Urban Renewal Board.
  5. Advise City staff support, the Redmond Urban Area Planning Commission and Urban Renewal Agency Board on the Urban Area Development Standards.
