I was born in Virginia when my dad was in the military. We moved to several bases during the first few years of my life. After dad's retirement we moved back to Central Oregon, as this was my dad's home before signing up with Uncle Sam. I attended first grade at Terrebonne Elementary School. The rest of my K-12 years were spent in Redmond. I have many great memories of my life here as a kid from the Potato Festival on the 4th of July held where the Police Department now sits, to Little League and activities at the Old Fairgrounds. While growing up, our home was surrounded by juniper and sage brush in a place which is now called Cascade View Estates. It was a fun community to grow up in.

After college, in 1981 I married my wife and girlfriend for life, Carmen, and started being responsible for a local business for 17 years before deciding it was time to pursue a new career. In 1998, I re-enrolled at COCC to work toward a Computer Science degree. I currently work as a Network Administrator and have found a field of work that is extremely interesting and challenging, almost as much as being on City Council which has been exceptionally eventful and rewarding over the last 10 years.

Growing older, I've reflected on my life and am trying to give a portion back to the City of Redmond, which has given me so much. Along with that is the realization that our town is growing into a city whether we like the idea or not. I want to be part of that process and not find myself, in the future, saying, "I wish I would have."

There are many changes in Central Oregon daily, most of which we tend to think we can't influence; but there are many ways that we can make a difference. I encourage everyone to volunteer at some level to better our City.

Years from now, I want to read about what a positive influence Redmond had on someone's life and how glad they are that they were raised in our community.
