Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Redmond Fire & Rescue. All of our volunteer slots are filled, so we are not currently accepting applications. Please check back again at a later date to see if we have any openings.

First, I would like to thank you for your interest in Redmond Fire & Rescue’s volunteer association.  Redmond Fire & Rescue’s mission is to serve with excellence, make bad situations better, prevent fires and injuries and be cost effective.  Volunteers in our organization play a key role in making this happen.  Our volunteers participate in a broad range of emergency response and fire prevention activities.  To that end, our organization is looking for a few enthusiastic, physically fit individuals that are looking for a challenge.  Members in our organization are required to make a significant commitment to time, training and response.  Please consider this before applying to our organization. Generally, our volunteer ranks are full.  Once or twice a year, depending on vacancies, the department will hold training academies for new volunteers.  The process is as follows:

  1. Your application will be put on file.
  2. When an opening occurs, the volunteer association's membership comittee will review all applications on file and select applicants for an interview process.  Applicants will be selected on the basis of experience, references and education.  Applicants residing in the City of Redmond or our Rural Fire Protection District are given preference.  Each applicant selected will be contacted and asked if they are still interested in volunteering.
  3. Applicants selected for the interview process will be asked to complete a drug test, a criminal history check, a driving background check and a physical ability demonstration.  The demonstration consists of several fire service related tasks that must be completed within a certain time frame.
  4. Applicant's that successfully comple the background check and physical ability demonstration will be interviewed by the volunteer membership committee.  The committee will then evaluate all applicants and make recommendations for probationary membership to the volunteer association.
  5. Next, you will be requested to attend a meeting of the volunteer associations.  At the meeting, your application will be reviewed.  The association will then vote on your application for membership.  If you are voted into the volunteer association, you will be issued equipment and required to attend a basic firefighter academy.
  6. Upon completion of the academy, you will begin attending department training. Volunteer training is scheduled on each Monday night for two and a half hours.  Second Monday nights are reserved for volunteer business meetings.

As you can see, we are looking for responsible individuals who are willing to make a commitment to their community.  If you are one of those individuals, please conplete the application below and return it to one of our fire stations.  We will be contacting you soon to let you know that we have received your application, where you are on our standby list and when the next basic firefighter academy is scheduled.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 541-504-5000 and we will be happy to answer your questions.
