SW Yew Avenue and SW Wickiup Avenue Improvements Utility work is complete and street construction is underway on Yew Avenue. Yew Avenue will be complete in early June and contractor Jack Robinson & Sons will then start work on SW Wickiup Avenue. A detour is in place through The Greens. Please be considerate of the people that live in that neighborhood as you drive through.
Project Description: The Yew Avenue portion of this project completes the southwest Redmond arterial system by connecting the recently completed 27th Street project to S. Highway 97. Pavement will be replaced from the roundabout to the Yew Avenue interchange. Sidewalks and bike lanes will be provided on both sides. The Wickiup portion completes the street between SW 27th and S. Canal with the primary purpose of providing a sidewalk connection to Sage Elementary School. The project is currently out to bid with construction anticipated to start Spring 2013. 6th Street Reconstruction Work is underway. For the latest information on the project, go to http://www.sixthstreetproject.com/.
PLANNED PROJECTS
10th Street Waterline The next phase of waterline improvements in the north central part of Redmond includes line replacements in 10th between Dogwood and Greenwood and Birch, Dogwood, Elm and Fir between 12th/Canyon and 10th. Bids have been received for the project and work is anticipated to start in July 2013. For more information on the project, click here.
RECENT PROJECTS
S. Canal Bicycle Lanes and Sidewalks This project improved access to Ridgeview High School at SW Elkhorn and S. Canal. A 7' wide concrete sidewalk runs along the property line on the west side of S. Canal from the roundabout at 27th/Canal/Yew to the High School. S. Canal Blvd. has been widened to provide continuous 5' wide bike lanes on both sides from the roundabout to Elkhorn Avenue. For more information on the project, click here.
SW 27th Street Phase 3 SW 27th Street is the city's arterial serving the west side of Redmond. The latest phase completed the conversion of the narrow two-lane road to a minor arterial with bike lanes, sidewalks and a center turn lane from NW Greenwood to SW Yew. A roundabout was constructed at the intersection with S. Canal and SW Yew replacing a 4-way stop. An unseen, but significant, improvement is the westside sewer interceptor under the street which, as the name implies, collects wastewater from the west side of Redmond and conveys it to the water pollution control facility at the north end of the Dry Canyon.
Black Butte Blvd Reconstruction This project replaced an old, worn out road with a new collector street including sidewalks, sidewalk ramps and bike lanes. We took advantage of the street project to provide a new outfall for downtown storm runoff to the Dry Canyon installing 24 inch pipes up to 18 feet deep. A new 12 inch waterline also improves fire flows and circulation across the canyon.
SW Reservoir Drive Reconstruction of a narrow two-lane section with new pavement, bike lanes and sidewalks to complete the connection to the new Sage Elementary School.
Odem Medo Way Reconstruction Odem Medo Way has been widened and new signals installed at the intersections with Highway 97 and S. Canal. A new canal crossing, new waterlines and storm drainage were also installed.
