  • Where does City of Redmond water come from?
    The City of Redmond draws 100% of its water from wells.

 

  • Why is my water cloudy?
    The cloudy look comes from tiny, naturally occurring air bubbles. If you let the water sit in a container for a few minutes, you will notice that the cloudiness dissipates.

 

  • Does the City chlorinate the water?
    Yes.  The City maintains a chlorine residual of 0.50-0.70 mg/L.  See the Water Quality Report for more information.

 

  • Does the City put fluoride in the water?
    No flouride is added to the water.  However, a minute amount of flouride does exist.  See the Water Quality Report for more information.

 

  • What are the City irrigation regulations?
    Even house numbers may water on even days of the month and odd house numbers may water on odd days of the month. No one may water on the 31st. No watering between the hours of 11:00am and 4:00pm.  More information  City Code 4.125 to 4.155 

 

  • Is it ok for me to use a fire hydrant for my building project?
    You may use a city fire hydrant only if you obtain a Hydrant Meter Permit at the Public Works office. Unauthorized use of a hydrant is against city code.

 

  • Does the City of Redmond require backflow devices on all water services?
    If you have an underground sprinkler system, you are required to have a backflow device. Commercial and industrial services require premises isolation devices.  More Information

 

  • Who is responsible for testing backflow devices?
    Testing of backflow devices is the responsibility of the property owner except for residences under 3 units. The City will arrange for those devices to be tested annually by a contractor.  More Information
