Centennial Park Mural
The Centennial Mural was designed in 2010 by the art students at Redmond Proficiency Academy under the direction of Artist in Residency, Carol Poppenga and art teacher, Ethan Stelzer. The mural depicts the history of Redmond honoring Redmond's Centennial Celebration.
Centennial Park Clock Tower and Tile
The clock tower was designed by local artist, Jerry Werner/Studio Savant. The clock tower represents the past, present and future of Redmond's history. The clock tower was dedicated along with Centennial Park during Redmond's Centennial celebration on July 3, 2010. The tile project was designed and sculpted by the Redmond High School students in Brian Manselle's class. The hand painted tiles around the fireplace were done by Choice Friday elementary school students and high school students from Redmond Proficiency Academy.
Eagles In Flight
6th Street Archway
The Commission invited artists and artist teams to submit designs and produce an archway for the 6th Street Public Art Archway. The winning design was submitted Brent Grenfell of Dana Signs. This beautiful arch serves as a gateway monument for downtown Redmond as part of the downtown revitalization effort to transform what was once a highway district in the city center. The archway spans over the roadbed on 6th Street in the heart of downtown, surrounded by historic commercial buildings and a pedestrian streetscape.
Dignity
The Commission is proud to have Dignity, a 54-inch high, 3/4-life-size bronze sculpture created by Redmond native Rodd Ambroson, as a permanent part of Redmond’s public art collection. She can be found in front of the Redmond Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center, where she was installed on November 29, 2008.
Western Swing
On October 18, 2007, the Commission was proud to install Western Swing at the Northern “Y” of 5th and 6th Streets. This heroic-sized, 12-foot tall bronze sculpture was created by Central Oregon native Greg Congleton and graciously donated to the City by Phil and Penny Knight.
Air Traffic Control
May 18, 2007 was a memorable date for the Commission, marking the inaugural event of Redmond’s Art in Public Places program. The celebration featured the installation of Air Traffic Control at the West “Y” & 13th Street. This amazing sculpture was created by Greg Congleton and graciously donated by Phil and Penny Knight.
