South Hwy 97 Corridor Plan Study

The Redmond South US 97 Corridor Plan

The Redmond South US 97 Corridor Plan is a cooperative effort between the City of Redmond and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), along with technical and citizen advisory committees, as an effort to improve multi-modal safety and mobility and economic viability of the South US 97 Hwy corridor through land use and transportation enhancement strategies.

Phase 1 - Plan Creation
Phase I of the process was to create the Corridor Plan.  The Plan was devised as a guide for future development and access improvements along South US 97 and includes strategies to improve access management, local street connectivity, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, and the functionality of US 97.

The Plan’s vision for the future of the South US Highway 97 corridor is for a vibrant business district that is safe and accessible to shoppers traveling by car, bike, or on foot. It asks for the corridor to be aesthetically pleasing, and that it provides opportunities for business community interaction and for traffic to move efficiently in both the north-south and east-west directions.

The Redmond South US 97 Corridor Plan, project documents and meeting information from the Phase I process can be found by scrolling down to the bottom of the page.

Phase 2 - Implementation
To help turn the above Plan vision into reality, the City is initiating the next phase of the South US Highway 97 Corridor Plan, which is deciding how to implement the numerous changes and physical improvements recommended in the Plan.  The City has put together a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) representing broad community input and consisting of property owners in the corridor, community residents, City of Redmond officials, and the Oregon Department of Transportation to help decide which Plan elements should be implemented.  A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has also been formed to provide technical analysis proposed solutions and consists of City staff, ODOT, and the Department of Land Use and Conservation and Development (DLCD).   Out of this process will come recommendations for amendments to the Development Code, the Comprehensive Plan, the Transportation System Plan (TSP) and physical improvements.

Throughout the course of this project, we will update this site with current project information, such agendas and staff packets for public meetings and presentation material. Through this website/link, you will be able to stay informed on the progress of this project.

What is an Enterprise Zone?

enterprise_zone_map_web

Oregon’s Enterprise Zones offer a unique resource to local communities, unmatched by any other business incentive. Besides this short-term property tax abatement, an Enterprise Zone lends visibility and focus to local economic development efforts.

The Enterprise Zone, through a short-term tax exemption, induces eligible business firms to make additional investments that will improve employment opportunities, spur economic growth, diversify business activity and contribute to competitiveness in economically distressed areas of the state.
