Crawling Juniper by Paul Russell

Artist Name:

Paul Russell

About the Artist:

Paul Russell enjoys creating elements of the natural world through metal forming.  As a child, Paul made his first sculpture by shearing halfway through bars of steel creating steps. He then bent the bars and welded them together to create what looked like aquatic plant.

About the Art:

The juniper tree has a lot of potential as a metal sculpture with its twisting abstract attributes.  Creating a juniper tree with the forging techniques he deploys was a fun challenge.  You won't have to go far to see other sculptures that Paul has created.  He created the dragonflies known as Ancient Protocol.
