About the Art:
The inspiration behind "ancient beacon" is rooted in my childhood fascination with the medieval, with fantasy stories of knights going off to war, and with Tolkien's middle earth and the clashing of good and evil he wrote about. I imagine this piece atop a rocky, wind-swept promontory, with four grim sentries posted there and charged with maintaining the signal light. The obvious decay in the piece reflects weathering from countless years and battles withstood - the beacon is worn, but still solid, still serving. The tables of course are rooted in these moderns times where the "sentries" who stand around the fire are only tasked with drinking beer....
