**2019 PLANNED ASPHALT MAINTENANCE**
Slurry seal forms a long-wearing, rock hard surface that provides years of use for both old and new roadways. Slurry seal is designed to extend the life of existing pavement by protecting the under surface from the effects of oxidation, weather, and water seepage.
Asphalt seal-coat treatments are mainly a preventive maintenance procedure applied to the asphalt pavement surface to prevent or delay costly corrective measures. Asphalt seal coats are surface treatments designed to seal and protect the asphalt pavement from harmful environmental conditions such as sunlight, rain, and snow.
An overlay is the paving of a second layer of asphalt (1" minimum) over a layer of existing asphalt. A tack coat primer is used to adhere the new asphalt to the old. An overlay is used when the existing pavement is in a generally good condition, with a few minor problem areas.
