The City of Redmond requires all water discharged from industrial users to meet pretreatment standards. These standards can be found in the City of Redmond code, section 4.326 & 4.332.
Certain industries are required to have a permit to discharge industrial wastewater to the City Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF). Permits require the user to monitor discharged water and report results to the City of Redmond.
Certain industrial users are charged rates based on the material discharged to the treatment facility. More information on rate classifications can be found in the FAQ section.
Pretreatment is important for the following reasons:
- To ensure that the biological treatment that occurs at the WPCF is not impacted
- To ensure that wastewater operators are not exposed to any harmful chemicals or vapors
- To prevent contamination to groundwater
For more information on pretreatment standards or permitting, please contact the City of Redmond, Industrial Pretreatment Program.
